Dear colleague VotingÌýresults fromÌýCongress andÌýthe further education sector conferenceÌý(FESC)Ìý2021Ìýare now available andÌýcan be found here. Congress delegates made some key decisions about the major issues facing us as a sector and we now need to start an urgent consultation process with branches about the member level campaignsÌýthatÌýdelegates mandated the union to undertake. To do this, we need maximum participation from membersÌý-Ìýthe key decisions made by Congress now must be conveyed to all members so that campaignsÌýthat include them can commence. Next steps:ÌýFEÌýpayÌý(England),Ìýworkload, and professional autonomyÌýÌý The best way to ensure broadÌýunderstanding of andÌýsupportÌýforÌýourÌýpayÌýand workloadÌýcampaigns, is for you to start building the member level campaignsÌýin your branch now.Ìý To do this we need you to urgently call aÌýbranchÌýemergencyÌýgeneralÌýmeeting (EGM)Ìýbefore 6 July. In this meeting your branch committee, and ideallyÌýanyÌýdelegates your branch sent to congress, should be available to start the process of education by reporting back toÌýmembersÌýthe outcomes ofÌýCongressÌýand sector conferenceÌýandÌýansweringÌýquestions from membersÌýabout the debates and voting. The meeting is intendedÌýparticularlyÌýto discuss the campaign decisions made by FE sector conference and seek members'Ìýviews on the most effective ways of taking forward the campaigns that delegates decided upon. The more members you can get to come to your meeting the better, as this will show how many members are engagedÌýand ensure as many views as possible are heard. The number of members we engage is important, because they will be essential to building the member level campaignsÌýthat will be crucial inÌýwinning the battles ahead.Ìý In the meeting we ask that you discuss the following:Ìý
Please provide feedback on your branch members’ viewsÌýon each of the points aboveÌýbyÌý6ÌýJulyÌý(in time for the meeting of the national further education committee on 9 July),Ìýusing this e-mail address. Your participation in this process is very important as all responses will be collated and presented to the next meetingÌýof the further education committee (FEC)Ìýon 9 July, which willÌýhelpÌýdecide how we proceed with all motions passed.ÌýIn order to feed into the development of the next steps of ourÌýfurtherÌýeducation campaigns over pay,Ìýworkload and professional autonomyÌýyou mustÌýsend the response of your branch hereÌýbyÌý6ÌýJuly.Ìý Thank you. |
