Joint NUT and Â鶹¹ÙÍø Seminar on 14-19 Education
Wednesday, 22 June 2011, 9.45am - 3.45pm
NUT Headquarters, Hamilton House
The NUT/Â鶹¹ÙÍø recently held a joint seminar on 14-19 education. The purpose of the seminar was to build on the work already undertaken by NUT and Â鶹¹ÙÍø on 14-19 education, to relook at these policies in the light of the coalition government's policies and to explore further joint working and campaigning on changes occurring to the 14-19 education.
The seminar was also organised in order to contribute to the development of joint policies on 14-19 education between the two unions.
The seminar included NUT and Â鶹¹ÙÍø members, along with keynote speakers from the Institute of Education. Professor Ken Spours and Professor Ann Hodgson outlined the 14-19 landscape and talked about the Wolf Report on vocational education. Workshops offered the opportunity to discuss 14-19 funding issues with Â鶹¹ÙÍø and NUT officials, new structures and institutions such as University Technical Colleges and academies, with representation from the Anti-Academy Alliance and John Offord from the Â鶹¹ÙÍø, teaching and learning and the identification of campaigning activities for both unions.
A report of the seminar including the programme, speaker slides and workshop action points is available here:
