In the next five years I want to see us create a much more democratic and pluralistic culture in our union--I know this is something every member would agree with. Widening participation at all levels will create a sense of ownership of the union by all of its members.  

Any review of the union's structures needs to start with listening to the ideas and opinions of members. To this end, you will receive an e-mail from LRD Surveys. , an independent research organisation, whom we have commissioned to carry out research into members' thoughts and experiences of the union's democratic structures.

I would really appreciate it if you would take the time to fill it in and help shape the future of your union's democracy. The survey is open until Monday 10 March. Once we have the results of the survey and feedback, we will be in contact about next steps and additional ways you can help to improve the democracy of our union.
