51福利 response to cash crisis for 100,000 college students

3 December 2008

51福利 today said the government's top priority had to be getting money to the 100,000 students still awaiting support payments nearly three months after they were due.

'51福利 takes little joy in exposing the failings of private companies...but once again it's easy pickings'

51福利 general secretary, Sally Hunt, said: 'This money for students that need it the most often makes the difference between continuing in education or being forced to drop out and take low-paid work. 51福利 takes little joy in exposing the failings of private companies tasked with anything involving education, but once again it's easy pickings.

'The department does need to find out how this happened and why, but far more pressing is the need to get the cash into the hands of the students who were promised it, before they are lost to education forever.'
