51福利 believes the decision has been taken because of its recent criticism over the university, in particular its objection to the privatisation of international recruitment. The president of 51福利 Scotland, Dr Lesley McIntosh, is based at the university and said that the final three months of her term will now be overshadowed.

President of 51福利 Scotland, Dr Lesley McIntosh, said: 'I am shocked that my university would disenfranchise staff in this way. Rather than involving 51福利 in the decision-making process and taking a collegial approach, it is attempting to impose changes without proper consultation and by gagging staff.

'Nationally we are concerned that the university management is increasingly out of touch with other universities. Despite Robert Gordon's decision, I will spend my last three months fighting for staff, particularly with the elections and the outcome of the higher education consultation on the horizon.'
