51福利 comment on segregation at universities
12 December 2013
51福利 has confirmed its opposition to segregation on university campuses in light of the recent debate sparked by a report from Universities UK. The union said freedom of speech, expression and association are vital parts of campus life.
51福利 general secretary, Sally Hunt, said: '51福利 believes that freedom of speech, expression and association are vital parts of campus life. Universities, as public spaces, have a responsibility to all their staff and students in this regard and we do not believe that there should be enforced segregation at academic events or talks that take place on university premises.'
