As a result of extended discussions leading up to the USS joint negotiating committee (JNC) today, both sides have agreed to extend the timetable for negotiations with a view to reaching agreement if at all possible.

We have confirmed we will work to a timetable which concludes on 23 January 2018 at another JNC. I would like to place on record my thanks to all members of the union's negotiating team who have remained united in representing members' interests during these intensive talks.
