Special HE sector conference - February 2013: 2013 national claim

The higher education committee (HEC) convened a special meeting of the HE sector conference to consider the national pay claim and campaign for 2013.

The special higher education sector conference held on 27 February agreed the national negotiators' report (see Â鶹¹ÙÍøHE181 below). The conference also agreed a number of motions asking negotiators to raise additional issues in the national claim(s) including: London weighting, redundancy avoidance and specific measures to address the gender pay gap.
The special conference resolved to build a joint campaign with the other unions and, if necessary, ballot for escalating industrial action if the employers' offer is unacceptable.
